revisiting an old list...and some new pics.

The New Year....

So, I decided not to make New Year's Resolutions. I don't usually do those, because I never keep them, so it seems silly to pretend like I'm going to try and then let myself down. This concept did however get me thinking about following through. I wanted to look back here at my post about 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30 (I have roughly 1.5 years to go) and apparently I'm going to have to pick up the pace. I've added updates and/or comments on how I feel about these "items" in red next to the original item.

1. learn Photoshop. I've only researched a bit and realized it might be illustrator that I want not photoshop....i'm also looking at getting an app to do what I wanted photoshop for to begin with....so in progress.
2. create or write a fitness blog, book, class or something for mom's to do during pregnancy and after and with the kiddos. not a thing...except talk about or think about it occasionally!
3.get my nose pierced..again. complete
4. have a dinner party...a fancy one. sort of complete....we did have a fairly fancy and certainly fun and huge christmas party. still working on the dinner party though.
5. look into teaching childbirth classes for st mary's. no progress...
6. play tennis in the denver city open. thought about it. decided it might be slightly past my 30th birthday. It is at the end of June, and will either be this year or next.
7. see Garth Brooks in concert still would love to, but tickets are astronomical and haven't been able to leave my sweet little girl for 3 days to go to Vegas.
8. learn how to make cheesecake...well. i'm getting rid of this one, I decided if I learned to make it well, I will have to come up with a new list of how to lose weight for me and my mother and my husband.
9. go to Palisade's winefest. ugh. still haven't done this, september of this year is my last chance.
10. refinish another piece of furniture. complete! yay! pics to come soon!
11. memorize 30 scriptures. nope.....3, a whopping 3 since I've written this post. Read a bunch, but memorized.....not so much.
12. do 50 push ups (real boy ones) in a row. for some reason....my wrist has been bothering me, as has my elbow, basically since Norah was born, I keep thinking it's going to get better, but it hasn't. I'm not making excuses....or maybe I am, but it hurts to do pushups, and not the way it should hurt.
13. plant and grow something. zucchini, flowers, basil, another baby, tomatoes...something. .....
14. finally get a kick/spin serve in tennis. not yet, but my serve is getting better, so I think it will be here soon.
15. consistently have a date night with ryan at least twice/month. we've done pretty well with this one, thanks to our plethora of baby sitters that fight over norah, we are so blessed.
16. stop comparing myself to others so much. this was a silly goal, because how do you ever analyze this?
17. make something worth selling and sell it. i've made stuff and sold stuff, but haven't sold anything i've made.
18. start systematically investing into our retirement fund. systematically investing into our savings, but not our retirement yet.
19. make a headboard. ugh. nope
20. start taking more...and better, photos. more yes, better, ?
21. learn how to french braid. I think I'm going to postpone this one until our little girl gets thicker, longer hair!
22. plant a tree. nope, planning on it this spring though.
23. buy the person's dinner behind me in a drive-thru. not yet.
24. volunteer somewhere. not yet.
25. read Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis (in progress) complete.
26. paint a door red. nope...but thinking about painting our front door red soon, or at least some deep fun color, I will count any of these fun colors.
27. make daily prayer a habit not just a thought. in progress.
28. fly somewhere with norah (while it's still free for her!) complete! san francisco!
29. treat myself to a spa day. yeah right....maybe I should amend this to say one spa treatment...
30. get "good" at snowboarding. actively working on it! Telluride this weekend, here I come!

and now for everyone's favorite part - a few random pics of little Norah.
shopping with mama - a rare moment where I kept my adorable hat on, so mom had to take a picture of me in the middle of the aisle.
aww geez, dad is so funny.
just "helping" mama find a recipe for dinner. (by the way, this is a sneak peek into our fabulous new MASSIVE pantry, that I am obsessed with....I am working on posting remodel pics soon!)
