One Thousand Gifts

So....I heard about this fabulous book. Well, I didn't really know it was fabulous, but Angie, the woman that told me, (and a million other people on her blog...she doesn't know we're friends ;) about it is fabulous. And the cover is beautiful.
So I decided it must be fabulous.

And, I've been wanting to start a book club for a long time now. And there is an online book club that I've somewhat followed here and they are called BLOOM. And I have a lot of olderwise and great tennis lady friends that have book clubs, and they seem to love them so much. So, I've been wanting to start one, so, I decided to start with this book, One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp. So I sent an email to a few girl friends that (I know like to read) of mine to see if they were interested in reading it too. And, yippee - tons of them...ok, well 15 or so....decided to read it too! So our book club has started!

We have been reading the book for a few weeks now, and I have to say that it is amazing.

The book “One Thousand Gifts” goes into great detail of why it's important to count "gifts", and Ann (the author) continues this as an ongoing project on A Holy Experience of counting weekly gifts received as an offering of thanks giving to God.

Basically it challenges me to ask myself, can I find grace in the everyday, rather than searching for it only in the less common moments? Grace: undeserved gifts from God. How sad God must be with ungrateful me; who mumbles and grumbles about what is not and fails to thank Him for what is.

So I begin my "Multitude Mondays Project". I am so blessed. Let me count the ways…

  1. My beautiful daughter's "Uboo" to me in the morning. (I love you)
  2. A steaming hot, creamy, cup of coffee while sitting outside in the chilly weather watching Norah play.
  3. Finally laying my head down on the pillow at night.
  4. Warm sun shining in through the window on me as I read.
  5. Babies naps

and since we are talking books, here are a few pics of norah doing some "reading" of her own!

She isn't reading here, but it was just too funny to not post.
