A Girls Afternoon.

An Update:

to not be fussy...
Norah has been doing so good lately. I think she is finally feeling a lot better, and I think that Ryan and I are getting to know her better and more comfortable as parents. All in all, I would say it is getting easier. We are more able to entertain her and keep her happy, read her cues and get her down for a nap on time, etc. It's amazing how much missing a "sleep window" during the day can throw her off. When she is sleepy, you better get her down! It's funny because for a while, we would try to put her down for a nap and when she would fight us, we thought she wasn't tired. Now, we know the harder she fights the more tired she is! We have learned so much, and just as my mommy friends said, at the 6 month mark it has gotten easier.

Last night we had the opportunity to go out for a date for our 5 year anniversary! My parents watched Norah (I am informed by my dad that it isn't babysitting, it's him enjoying hanging out with his grandaughter.) She is getting much better with them as she feels better and has been around them more. They even put her to sleep for us last night successfully! We enjoyed our time together watching the Blind Side (great movie!) and having dinner and drinks while reminiscing over our last 5 years together that have flown by! It's been so fun to see Ryan as a dad, and wonderful to see that is just as great of a father as he is a husband.

to sleep or not to sleep.
Sleep is definitely improving. Like I predicted the night after she slept through the night she woke up a few times! However, overall she is still getting better. Last night she went to bed at 7, woke up to nurse at 11, then started talking to herself at 2 (I'm not sure if she was talking in her sleep, or just talking to herself) because she and I both fell back asleep while I was laying in bed listening to the monitor. The next thing I knew it was 6:45am! Yay for Norah!!

milestones..
Norah is talking more and more each day. She has so much to say (must have a bit of her mama in her.) My dad swears she started saying mama, mama when she was upset yesterday when I was gone. I doubt it, but can't wait for the day I do get to hear her say it! She is pulling herself up more and more and getting better at it. She is the master of sitting now....so much so that she gets complacent and occasionally just topples over because she forgets she has to balance.

These pictures are from a week or two ago when my good friend Emily was in town. We spent the afternoon playing on the floor with Norah and I'm so thankful that she took a bunch of pictures. I am still working on my new year's goal of taking more....apparently still working on procrastination too.
A little frustrated that the monkey won't sit still for her to put it in her mouth.
Yay, I finally think I got it!
Yep, I did....mmm ready to eat it.
Pausing the fun for a picture break.
Back to my monkey.
mmm, kissing my monkey at last.
ha ha ha.
So proud of herself and so cute.
A pic with mama and daughter.
Norah, look at the camera!
Not that way, over here!

no words needed.

So sweet! And I'm thrilled to hear things are going better with sleep and all the other things that go along with raising a happy baby! This is such a fun age - enjoy each day!
