what are those gruwell's up to?

Evy is...
...obsessing over: walking while holding your hands. She gets so excited to do this she giggles. It's so cute, and watch out if you are "walking" her to Norah, she will go crazy with joy!
...working on: getting some teeth.  I keep thinking one is going to pop up any day now, Norah was about 9 months before she got any, and obviously Ev is on the same track. She drools constantly and chews on everything, so I think it's soon - but I've been thinking that since week 3, so who knows!
...thinking about: talking and singing... Loves to babble, a few consonant sounds here and there, but mainly just a lot of aaah aaah aaaah, especially when we are talking....she loves to join in the conversation.
...missing: nursing :(  well, we are pretty much done nursing, and by pretty much, I mean we are done, but I don't really want to admit it, so I say pretty much. :(  I'm sad, but I just don't have any milk, and evy has no interest in 3 drops an hour. She is a big girl and wants her bottle!
...listening to: her big sis Norah talk to her. She will watch Norah so intently as if she can actually understand what she's saying.
...drinking: special (expensive) non dairy non soy formula. I would so much rather have her on better stuff without so much junk in it (and cheaper) but, we tried another formula and it just didn't seem to sit well with her, so we'll give it another try in a couple more weeks.
...wishing: she could move!  she's scooting a bit, and rocking back and forth on to her hands and knees, very near crawling, and pulls up constantly. But you can tell she's frustrated that she can't quite get her body to do what her mind wants yet!

...obsessing over: her "roller coaster" - see above! Our sweet neighbors Paul and Tina had promised us a year ago, that when their grand daughter Layla grows out of her roller coaster Norah could have it...they had seen how much she adored it while we were barbecuing at their house last summer!  Layla finally gave it up, and Paul showed up with a roller coaster at our front door - oh boy did Norah's eyes light up!  We decided to get a bit crazy and put it on a hill instead of a flat area - it goes about 40 feet!
...loving: her baby sister. Norah absolutely loves Ev, she talks about her, tends to her, hugs her and loves her constantly. And loves to call her by her nick name that she gave her - Bayba.
...NO LONGER working on: Potty training!  We are done!  Norah took about a week to figure it out after we finally decided to give it a real try (you might remember that we tried once the day after Norah turned 2 and both ended up in tears) but now she's a PRO!!
...thinking about: preschool. We went and visited a preschool at a church up the street at the beginning of the summer. Norah is pretty sure that she wants to go...Her mommy isn't that sure yet.....we'll see
...anticipating: Her mermaid and pirate birthday party. She picked the theme and has been absolutely excited about it ever since. It's in a couple of weeks and she is so eager!
...listening to: the ABC Song, while she sings it. She loves to sing her ABC's and when Evy is really upset in the car...or anywhere Norah sings her this song, and it almost always works immediately. Love it!
...drinking: super diluted juice, 1% organic cows milk mixed with a bit of coconut milk, and lots of water.
...wishing:it wasn't quite so hot...when Norah says it's too hot to play outside, that's when you know it's too hot. 10 or so days of 100+ in the last 2 weeks - yikes!

RYAN AND I ARE...

obsessing over: our kiddos!  they are both at such wonderful phases, we love nearly every minute of it, and enjoy being parents to these girls so much - what a blessing they are in our lives!
...loving: Music in the Park!  We've been two times so far this summer to listen to free live music in the park in Fruita. The kids love it, and we love to grab a beer at the brewery next door and then head over to relax and visit with friends for the night, such a fun time!
... working on: getting caught up and being less stressed. It just seems like we can't seem to quite ever catch up. The busyness that our jobs bring, along with a household, two kiddos and travels, just overwhelm us. We just need life to pause for a few days and to catch up on everything!
...thinking about: putting Norah into preschool? We just haven't made up our minds yet, we visited one we really liked, and she's actually on the waiting list for another, but we just don't know yet....we'll see!
...anticipating: HAWAII!  My best friend from college has decided to get married in Maui!  So as her maid of honor, and Ryan her DJ, she twisted our arms and we're going ;) We leave September 30! We have always talked of going to Hawaii and what better reason than to celebrate our dear friends' and their wedding!  The only hard part is how darn much I will miss the girls (whom we are leaving with our parents).
...watching: Wimbledon for me!  And Ryan and I have a thing for old Friends and Seinfield episodes.
...drinking: Ryan is drinking tea these days in hopes of keeping his heart burn at bay. I'm still drinking coffee with coconut creamer and lately been obsessed with Starbucks' passion iced tea. So delish!
...feeling: blessed. so blessed.

Thanks for stopping by and checking in on our little lives!
