Ultrasound went well. Woo Hoo.

As most of you know, we were scheduled to have our first ultrasound earlier this week. It is a bit earlier than they usually do ultrasounds, but because we are being extra cautious this time, and my midwife can apparently read my lunatic mind, she suggested we do an ultrasound at 7 weeks, yay.

So, you can probably tell by my tone that it went well, so let's just get that out of the way. Everything looked normal and healthy as far as we can tell for now.

So, now for the details, well not all of the details, that is a little too graphic, but for some of them....

I already felt nauseas this day, and the thought of another bad ultrasound had me feeling extremely nauseas. I seriously thought I might throw up right there in the waiting room (which we waited in for 24 minutes, yes, the nearly the longest 24 minutes ever.) Then the nurse finally came out and got me and did the usual, weigh me, have me pee in a cup, take my blood pressure, (which I'm surprised at how normal and low it was!) etc.

Then they bring me back to the room, where I get to wear a napkin for a dress and stare at that screen.....for another 24 minutes. That was the longest 24 minutes ever. Now, I was increasingly nervous, felt like puking, and already had to pee again, oh the joys of pregnancy.

So, the doctor finally came in, Dr. E, a nice man that I had never met. And I'm thinking, okay buddy, you seem nice and all, but where the heck is JG my lovely midwife. You see last time I had an ultrasound JG got called in to emergency labor, and I had to deal with Dr. S. A very cold, not friendly, yuck of a lady and she is the one who gave us the bad news. I wasn't about to go through this again without the comforting JG, who thankfully moments later came in (momentary relief of nausea). So we start and for what seemed like 8 hours, and was probably only 8 seconds the doctor just kept looking at the screen, re enter nausea, and then finally said, I saw a heartbeat! Woo Hoo!!!! At this point I nearly started crying, nearly threw up and peed the bed all at once. (Don't worry I didn't)

He was having a hard time seeing the baby though, and JG and Dr. E kept looking at each other, more nausea, and then sort of laughing said, Briana I think you should go to the restroom because your bladder is so full it is blocking the sight of the uterus. ha ha, now i'm laughing, nearly peeing, throwing up and crying all at once. (sorry I know I said I would leave out the details, but some of them are just too funny.)

So after a quick trip to the restroom in a massive purple robe, seriously Barney esqe. They finished the ultrasound, measured the baby. And gave us a new due date. July 9. And took this little picture, where Baby Griz looks similar to a pea in pod. See for yourself below. So for now we wait more, pray lots, sleep an unbelievable amount and go back to the doc in 3-4 wks.
