I'm growing inside & out.

I'm going to be a mom. I think it's finally setting in. And I'm incredible excited, but feeling a little unworthy, and unprepared. For some reason when I was growing up, I always envisioned that by the time I was a mom I would be this perfect version of myself.

I especially feel unprepared when it comes to bible knowledge. I just don't know what I thought I would by now.

So, I think this new feeling of unpreparedness, and unworthiness has given me the motivation I need to really sink into some growth in spirit, and I'm starting with scripture memorization. A friend of mine is following the Beth Moore's blog (she is fabulous). So I decided to jump on the bandwagon. If you want to follow along, just click on the link above and go to the "Siesta Scripture Memorization Team" button.

So, we are supposed to memorize a scripture of our choice (and no, I'm not going to allow myself to pick really short ones! ha ha) and work on that scripture for 2 weeks. So we will be memorizing 2/month. For a total of 24 in 2009.

I'm so excited to get started and to really dig into God's word. I'm so eager to learn, and excited to grow in my relationship and understand of God while I prepare to raise this little girl growing inside me.

My first verse is: Romans 12:2
ESV Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed, by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, and acceptable and perfect.

Here are a couple of other translations that I read through.
NLT Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

AMP Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Oh girl, you are so cute! I don't think even a 99-year old Beth Moore would know the Bible inside and out like we all want to! (Although Beth might be a bit ahead of gals such as myself!) I'm happy to hear you are doing the scripture memorization, it is already helping me so much. I'm sure you will grow from it too! I am starting Beth's new Bible study Esther today. I've heard rave reviews and am thrilled to get going. Have you done it? Anyway, take care of that baby girl growing in there! I'm sure you guys are getting so anxious to meet her!!

In His Grip,
Ashley
