It's been a week since we found out about the dairy sensitivity and reflux, so here's the update.
Norah is doing better, praise god. I wouldn't necessarily say good yet, but better. I don't know if better is enough, or if I should call Dr. R back and see if she should be doing better than better. :(
There were a couple of good days last week, no fussy crying at all until a bit at the end of the day, then we had a couple of not so good days. The weirdest part about those days is that 2 of the worst times were during car trips, I thought car trips were supposed to calm her down - she was screaming hysterically during both trips. Once during a red light, I put the car in park, jumped in the back and gave her back her paci which she had dropped, only to get back up to the front and hear her spit it out and start screaming again just as the light turned green. I'm sure to the cars nearby this was a hysterical sight. Thank goodness we live in grand junction where these cars trips were only 10mins long during bad traffic, I can't imagine living in Denver and having 30-45 min trips to go anywhere, yikes.
So today so far though has been a really good day and as we speak she is being a little angel in the peanut shell. She is starting to look around a lot more and become more aware of her surroundings. Yesterday while I was at the grocery, Ryan said she was awake and alert, watching her fish tank and talking for 30 mins, that's remarkable compared to before. So we are hopeful that we are getting somewhere with all of this.
So, let me tell you that these happy moments on her face and moments of peace are the only thing getting me through this non dairy diet, and I'm only a week in. If you asked me what my favorite foods were I would usually answer chocolate dipped strawberries and cheese of any sort. Yikes. All I can say is thank goodness I love fruits and veggies, and thank god for olive oil. Because I can't eat butter, milk, cheese, yogurt, chocolate, coffee creamer, a lot of breads, and basically anything processed, I am learning to find new ways to eat.
Last night we had shishkabobs with lean steak, zucchini, squash, mushroom, onions all marinated in a homemade(storebought has whey in it, which I can't eat) marinade of olive oil, sauteed garlic and many spices. We also had whole grain bread from the vitamin cottage that I made an olive oil and garlic dipping sauce for. So, it's not that bad! Yum!
So, keep praying that Norah keeps getting better and that I can continue dealing with non dairy.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the past few days that seem to slowly be getting better with Norah. Thank You for discernment and wisdom and peace for me and the doctor when it comes to her health. Thank You Lord for joy in her happiness, and for contentment in eating non-dairy. I also thank you lord for all of our amazing family and friends that love us and support us. In Jesus precious name. Amen
