the dairy and soy diaries...
This past weekend we finished nursing. It was time. Norah was ready.....I was less ready, but knowing that she was made it easier. I was producing less and less milk and Norah has really started liking the super hypoallergenic formula she used to hate, and she really likes that it's so much easier to get 6 oz through a bottle these days. I am so thankful that we have been able to make it 9 1/2 months in spite of all of the road bumps along the way.
to be fussy or not to be...
I am getting rid of this category because praise God will simply don't need it anymore. Norah is doing wonderful and I really think she is finally feeling great.
milestones....
This category on the other hand is definitely needed. In the past week or two, Norah has gotten her first tooth, taken her first steps, said Mama more definitively, and started drinking well out of a cup! Way to go little girl!
Steps...we didn't get this on camera because we were too amazed by how great and cute she was. We were at my parents house and my dad was holding Norah's hands while she was standing. My mom was a couple of feet away and tried to get Norah to come over to her. Sure enough, Norah just started walking, 3 or 4 wobbly steps, but definitely steps. She has done this a few times since, never more than 3 steps at a time, but definitely getting there. She is super brave now when something is close but not close enough to reach without letting go of something else. She just lets go, and goes for it!
Mamamamamama. Norah definitely can say mama now, but it's more like mamamamam or ama, or ma. The average onlooker...or Ryan...may not think she is really saying it, but call it mother's intuition (or the fact that I'm with her nearly every stinkin' second of the day) but I know she is saying it. She looks at me, or wants me and says mamamamama. It's adorable.
Tooth. She got one on the bottom left side. It's so tiny and just a bit poking through, but it's there. I always joked in the past with some of my mama friends, that my daughter is a bit fussy always so I would never know when she was teething, because it seems like she has been teething her whole life. However, it's kind of the opposite, I didn't really notice much fussiness, I just noticed a tooth!
Cup. I have been giving Norah a sippy cup with water for months now, however, she would either just chew on the spout or bang it on something. I don't want to give Norah juice because it's like a cup of sugar in each cup! But, for the sake of an experiment I did. I filled her cup with juice and helped her tip it up and get some, she immediately loved it. So before she could get too used to super sweet, I snagged it back and filled it with 3/4 water, 1/4 juice and gave it back. She loved it! Part of me feels guilty wondering if she is just drinking and drinking to see if she can get to that super sweet taste again..... But oh well, at least I have a healthy little girl who will now drink some water for this super hot deserty summer that's approaching us.
