to sleep or not to sleep...
Just thought I would give you all an update on the sleeping situation, which I'm pleased to say is slowly but surely improving.
Last night, I nursed Norah to sleep....I'm going to stop doing this but last night I wanted to get her to bed right away because our small group had a fun night planned at Kannah Creek Brewery...silly reason I know, however I need that adult time. So my mom came over and stayed with Norah while we went out.
1st wake up: She didn't wake up until 10:30, which is a good start because she went to bed at 6:15, a bit over 4 hours, yay!! When she did wake up I went in right away and gave her a binky, covered her up again, soothed her for a moment, and left. She started wailing when I walked out of course, and continued to cry hard but only for about 20 minutes...I then fell asleep, so I know she did too! 20 mins is much improved on the 40 -60 minutes the past 2 nights at the 1st wake.
2nd wake up: midnight. I went in right away, and she fell back asleep, but 5 or 10 minutes later woke up and started crying again. I didn't go in, and she fell back asleep after 5 or 10 minutes of on and off crying.
3rd wake up: 2am. same as midnight for the most part.
4th wake up: 5 am. I didn't go in at all, she woke up and cried a bit, but fell right back to sleep within 5 minutes or so.
5th wake up: 6:05 am. When I went in for the "dramatic wakeup" she was standing and smiling.
All in all, it is getting better. Not easy, not good yet, but better. And that makes me smile!
I will say however, I have a cold again, I know seriously? Another one? And Ryan is just getting over a sinus infection. We are praying that Norah doesn't get sick again, she has sneezed a few times today, but I'm hoping it's just that Spring is here not another cold. After this sleep progress, I cringe at thinking what a cold might do to the whole process. And I'm certainly not letting my sick baby girl cry, it's hard enough letting my healthy baby girl cry.
a couple of pics for your enjoyment, don't turn these in to human services, I really am a good mom.
What is Norah playing with? Oh yeah, that's the dog's collar...
